Richard Reid & Associates alternative design for the Basin Reserve and SH1 Motorway has received national coverage in this week’s Sunday Star-Times. Business journalist Rod Oram reviewed the Government’s current approach to the challenge of creating thriving, liveable cities for Auckland and Wellington and identified NZTA’s Basin Reserve flyover proposal as an example of the Government’s “simplistic agenda”.

Oram instead promotes our comprehensive and integrated approach, highlighting our design’s cost-effectiveness and urban development potential. Oram opines that support for NZTA’s flyover proposal will accelerate the city’s demise; or “if they vote for good urban design, starting with proper analysis of Reid’s plans, they will trigger its transformation”.

Oram’s article focuses attention on the importance of sound and wise decision-making. Successful cities recognise these moments as opportunities to invest in a better future. Our design will assist Wellington achieve this.
