10-11 March

Richard Reid gave evidence on transport planning to the Board of Inquiry in Wellington on 10th and 11th March. Richard's evidence included a detailed outline of the Basin Reserve Roundabout Enhancement Option (BRREO), our practice's alternative to NZTA's flyover.

Richard stated that an upgrade of the existing roundabout had not been adequately considered by NZTA in its fifteen years of traffic analysis. Of the 72 options NZTA had developed, only 4 had explored retaining use of the southern alignment of the roundabout and then only superficially. A major omission was the failure to consider integrating the southern alignment with the new Buckle St Underpass.

The Dom-Post reported Richard's evidence, calling BRREO the trump card's for critics of the flyover fighting to stop the proposal going ahead.
