The Dom-Post published an opinion piece by Richard Reid in today’s paper. Richard’s article is a formal response to public comments by members of the Ngauranga to Airport Governance Group that finding a solution at the Basin Reserve was years away.
Richard’s article alerts the public that “an alternative solution that leading traffic engineer John Foster and I designed, the Basin Reserve Roundabout Enhancement Option (BRREO), can be implemented immediately.” The Board of Inquiry preferred BRREO to a flyover, given its significant journey time savings, low cost and minimal impact on heritage.
Richard’s article, followed up by others, expresses concern that the Governance Group is progressing with its plans without recognition of BRREO, its designers or the feedback we have provided them.
