Richard Reid has given presentations on the practice’s work to the Sydney Harbour Foreshore Authority and a select group of Sydney urban designers, landscape architects, and architects.
In both talks, Richard discussed the formative influence of Sydney architect Neville Gruzman on his career, especially with regard to the art of creating space. Richard illustrated his talks with a building he was project architect for in Neville’s office (Stewart Garaging Structure, 1991-93), showing how the spatial thinking for this can be traced through the Birdcage Hotel and Public Space, Basin Reserve Roundabout Enhancement Option (BRREO) and many other RRA projects.
The working title for the talks was “Space Men” which refers to the article Richard wrote in Architecture New Zealand in 2007 on Neville.
