Richard Reid & Associates has published a story on Wellington.Scoop which draws attention to the recommendations of Wellington City Council’s ‘Basin Reserve - Assessment of Alternative Options’ Report.
The recommendations identify additional options for mitigation of a flyover, which NZTA has developed with Wellington City Council, including a “commitment to consolidate state highway traffic away from Vivian Street and into a single east-west corridor”.
We believe this will inevitably lead to a proposal by NZTA for a second flyover in front of the Basin Reserve. A second flyover conforms with the original vision for the project dating back to 1963. The article asks the question: how can mitigation of one flyover = two flyovers? We examine the effects of two flyovers.
